Fun and Fireworks - Celebrate the Fourth in the Foothills
Fireworks, fun and a fantastic time await you in the foothills
this Fourth of July weekend.
Columbia State Historic Park kicks the
festivities off at 10:00 a.m. with the annual flag raising
and firing of the canon. At noon the traditional Fourth
of July parade begins following by an afternoon of family
fun including music, contests like nail pounding, pie
eating, the egg relay race and more. It’s all capped
off by the five-way tug of war at 3:30 across from the
Eagle Cotage. Admission to all events is free. If you’re
hungry, stick around for the Tri-tip barbeque starting
at 4:00 p.m. $8.00 for adults and $5.00 for children under
10.
Parade with a Harte - - Twain Harte will
observe the 4th with a great parade. If you’re ready
for music, family fun and more, head up the hill to Twain
Harte. The pancake breakfast starts at 8:00 a.m. and the
parade at 11:30. Enjoy BBQ, pony rides, face painting,
balloonist art, fire truck rides, a clown, and a moon
walk. While there, beat the heat by taking a swim at the
community pool. Brad Wilson will be Rockin’ the
Blues in rotary Park from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
If you’re Yosemite bound, take in
the Groveland Art & Wine Show on July 4th & 5th
from 11:00 to 5:00. Admission is free. Enjoy the work
of local artists and a sip or two of wine at the Yosemite
Courtyard at the Groveland Hotel.
Cap off your fourth with Fireworks on
the Water at Lake Don Pedro. Their dazzling pyrotechnic
display begins at 9:30 p.m. View the spectacular show
from Blue Oaks Recreation Area or from parking areas by
the Don Pedro Dam and Visitor Center on Bonds Flat Road.
$7.00 per vehicle. Arrival before 8:00 p.m. is highly
recommended in order to be parked and settled before the
show begins. Food and beverages will be available for
purchase.
Ironstone
Vineyards kicks off the July 4th Independence Day Celebration
with fun for the whole family including great food to
purchase, live music, bounce houses, climbing walls and
games throughout the whole grounds. The fireworks begin
at dark and last about 30 minutes. You may bring in sun
umbrellas (which will be taken down before the fireworks),
lawn chairs, and blankets. $10 Adults, $5 Children 6 to
12, under 5 free.
